Their story is a little different than most as they have served in vocational ministry for many years. Ken worked for the Florida Baptist Convention back in 1997 when Dunn's Creek Baptist reached out to the convention for help. As they visited our church to help, they fell in love with the people, the preaching, and the evidence of spiritual growth all around.
They share that their time at DCBC has been "deeply fulfilling" and credit that to God working through Pastor Dave Malmberg as well as Pastor David McRee. When they invite someone to join them on a Sunday morning, they always mention the faithful preaching of God's word.
Their spiritual growth while at Dunns Creek has been in large part, thanks to the preaching of our retired pastor as well as our current pastor. But they also want you to know the incredible benefit of being part of a small group. They share that when hard time comes they *know* they are prayed for and loved.
"It is this combination of excellent biblical teaching, authentic Christian community, and compassionate pastoral care that makes Dunn's Creek Baptist Church such a blessing in our lives."
Thank you so much for sharing, Westbrooks! We love you!
This is Arndre, Cheryl, and Adam Marsh. Long ago when Adam was a baby, this family was invited to church by Joyce Owens at the former daycare. Their first impression of Dunns Creek was that they were welcomed in warmly.
This family chose Dunns Creek Baptist Church as their home church because of the people here that make it special. The people are warm, kind, friendly – like a family! It was because of the *people* that the Marsh family wanted to be more involved in the programs DCBC offered.
Cheryl shares that she was saved and baptized during their time at Dunns Creek and that they as a family continue to grow in their faith here.
Join us in praising the Lord for giving us a church full of warm, kind, welcoming people, and for changing lives like He did with the Marsh family!
This is Mike and Carly Matthews. We asked them to share their story of how God has used DCBC in their life and this is what they said:
Carly grew up at Dunns Creek -- her grandmother is our precious charter member, Gladys Montgomery. However after a season of difficulty, Carly returned to her roots with her husband, Mike, thanks to the consistent invitations of both her grandmother and her friend, Tami. She says coming back felt like home for both of them even though Mike had never been.
Through the last couple of years they have both grown under our preaching and teaching, and have both been able to step into ministry roles -- driving the bus and helping in AWANA, along with VBS and now the women's retreat.
Carly shares that the last few years have been challenging but they are so thankful for our church and the emphasis on preaching and teaching as well as having a faithful group of people to love them and hold them accountable has been "life changing."
They became part of our faith family in 2020 when they moved to Jacksonville with the Navy. If you remember 2020 was a weird year with Covid, lockdowns, and many families were feeling extra isolated. In December of that year, Angela desperately wanted to find a Christmas Eve service close to home and a google search led them to us!
Angela shares that Christmas Eve service 2020 made an impact on them because our church immediately felt like home. It felt like they belonged. The people of DCBC made them feel loved, accepted, and inspired by their walks with Jesus.
Rob and Angela have found ways to serve here at Dunns Creek. Angela is very involved in our music ministry and Rob helps drive the bus for AWANA each Sunday. They share that they also love being a part of VBS every year.
We are so thankful that a Christmas Eve service brought them to us and that they continue to grow and serve here at Dunns Creek Baptist Church!
This is Darrell and Rebecca Maynard. They have been members of DCBC for about a year and we want to tell you their story!
Darrell and Rebecca have only lived in this area for about a year. God led them to Dunns Creek after researching different churches in the area. The first time they came, they were impressed by our warm family of believers who made them feel welcomed and at home.
They love the kindness of our people, the evident love of God present in our church, our pastor's preaching, and genuine connection they have found here. They both express how much they've grown under Pastor David's preaching as well as being a part of Sunday Night discipleship and Rebecca wanted you to know how special it has been to be apart of the Ladies Bible Study. She feels she has found accountability and encouragement with these ladies.
Praise God for stories like these. He is working, church! and He is working in you too ![]()
